Family Folk Machine Online Mini-Concert One Planet
The Family Folk Machine is Iowa City’s intergenerational, non-auditioned choir with a mission to build community, educate about American history and culture, and promote individuals’ musical development. Since the disruption of the pandemic, the FFM has become a virtual choir, and on March 21 at 3pm we’ll present our third online mini-concert.
FFM singers and band members have recorded their parts individually at home and directors have edited those together to create a choir. Several FFM volunteers have created videos for the songs out of clips, stills, and animation. The result is a fun mixture of styles that brings a sense of togetherness and joy for people of all ages during these times of separation and anxiety.
The link for the online concert will be available a few days in advance on familyfolkmachine.org and the Family Folk Machine Facebook page.
The FFM virtual choir project has been made possible by grants from the Community Foundation of Johnson County, the City of Iowa City Public Arts Program, and the Iowa Arts and Culture Recovery Program. We are sponsored by Tallgrass Business Resources, Hills Bank, GreenState Credit Union, Casey’s General Store, Carrie Houchins-Witt Tax and Financial Services, Dr. Suzanne Stock, Julie Casella, Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Murphy Brookfield Books, Saunders Vocal Studio, SoundWorks Healing and Arts, MidWest One Bank, and Underground Printing.
